4-6, 2003
On the Grounds of the National Cathedral School, Washington, DC
Teachers
LINDA GAUL, Pitlochry, Perthshire, Scotland
Linda, who was born in Glasgow, began both Scottish Country and Highland dancing
as a child in the London area in the 1950s and has been an enthusiastic exponent
ever since. She transferred to Glasgow Branch in 1967 when she married and was
soon a member of the Demonstration Team, the Committee and then a teacher,
having passed her Teacher's Certificate in 1974. During this time she began a
long association with Hamilton, Ontario Branch, as a result of friendships
forged at St. Andrews Summer School.
In 1987 the Gaul family moved to Pitlochry, where Linda became a member of the
Perth & Perthshire Branch. She currently teaches a class at intermediate level
and serves on the Branch Committee. Linda has taught many Day and Weekend
Schools at home and abroad and had been a member of Summer School staff since
1986. She has also been Director of the RSCDS Winter School, currently held in
Pitlochry.
Having completed her term of office as Chairman of the RSCDS, Linda enjoys
retirement activities such as dancing, travel, and spending time with her
grandchildren. She remains committed to the aims and objects of the Society and
looks forward to helping in its future development. We're delighted to have the
opportunity to learn from Linda, and hope to forge new friendships with her
during her visit to Washington, D.C.!
KEITH R. BARK, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
Keith gained his full certificate in April 1993 under the instruction of John
Middleton and June Shore. Keith has taught all levels of Adult and Children's
classes and currently teaches several classes in Mississauga and Toronto,
Ontario. He also dances in demonstration teams including the ASTA Dancers
formed by the late Bob Blackie. Keith has taught many workshops across Canada
and North America.
Keith is currently chairman of the RSCDS Toronto Association and has served on
the Teachers' Association of Canada Executive Committee. He believes in
enjoying the dance but also in maintaining standards and encouraging awareness
and participation of all age groups. We are so pleased to welcome Keith as a
guest teacher, joining us for this weekend of dance! A talented and experienced
instructor, he will certainly keep us on our toes!
